Henk Visch, born in 1950 is a sculptor, draughtsman and writer. His work includes figurative sculptures as well as abstract constructions, the materials used range from paper, wood, aluminum and iron to bronze and textiles. Visch has created a large variety of works from three drawings, to three animated films and twenty sculptural works in bronze. As a final touch Visch painted these pieces in the colors of aluminum as well as aluminum bronze. These works were created between the years of 2000 and 2017. This exhibition also includes outdoor work in the courtyard of the Kunstverein that provides a profound insight towards the current work of the Dutch artist.  Titles of his work like, The Artist in Love “Hände hoch”, Unguided Tours, or We Ran Out of Sweets have a poetic humor that closely relates to fragmented words taken from both quotation and everyday life. At the same time, this is a grammatical practice that is becoming far removed from art. The figurative sculptures which he creates are often irritating because of their broken figuration. None of these figures are self-explanatory. Missing body parts of these figures raise questions that can be further answered in the respective titles and exhibition theme “le petit prince”, (the little prince). In 1995 Henk Visch was represented with work in the group exhibition "The Living Room" at the Kunstverein Grafschaft Bentheim. In 1986 he had a solo exhibition at the Städtische Galerie Nordhorn (under the direction of Eckhard Schneider) and since 1989 he has had the sculpture Uit het gezicht verliezen (Lost Sight) as part of the Skulpturenweg Nordhorn, which is now known as “kunstwegen”. Henk Visch’s Resume Experience: Studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Kunst en Vormgeving in s-Hertogenbosch (NL) from 1968-1972.  From 1982-1983 he worked in the PS I studios of New York (USA). He worked an apprenticeship at the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam from 1984-1987 In 1988 Visch was the sole representative to produce work for the XLIII Biennale di Venezia ( from The Netherlands) at the Dutch Pavillion . In 1992 Visch participated at the Dokumenta IX in Kassel, GermanyFrom 1995-2001 he was a professor at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildende Künste (State Academy of Fine Arts) in Stuttgart From 2005-2017 he was a sculpture professor at the Kunstakademie Münster (Münster Art Academy). He lives and works in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, and Berlin. https://www.henkvisch.nl/ The exhibition is sponsored by: Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, a town and municipality of Neuenhaus.
